10.Samuel Adams
Location Boston, MA United States
Owner Publicly Owned
(NYSE: SAM)
Year opened 1985
Annual production 1,358,000 barrels
Samuel Adams is the brand name of American beers produced by the Boston Beer Company (NYSE: SAM) and named after Samuel Adams, a brewer[1] and patriot
Americans love beer. But while we admittedly received many votes for Budweiser and Coors Light, suffice it to say that these "plain" beers did not make the cut for true beer lovers. This said, one beer that definitely stands out amongst the best American beers on the market is Boston's Samuel Adams, far and away. Perfect taste in draft or in a bottle.

9.Sleeman Lager,Canada
Location Guelph, Ontario
Canada
Owner Sapporo Breweries Ltd.
Year opened 1834
Annual production 1,200,000 hl
Besides maple syrup, hockey and bacon, Canada is also renowned for its great beer. Like the US, there are many "popular" beers made by the 2 main brewers: Labatt's Blue is a good beer, and Molson's Export and Canadian are popular ones (the latter, to quote Gavin: "Goes down smooth, doesn't (usually) come back up").
But none of these come close to Sleeman, a microbrewery that boasts several brands, the stalwart being the green-labeled Lager. Add a lime to that baby and no Canadian night is too cold.

8. Beck's , Germany
Location Bremen, Germany
Owner InBev
Year opened 1873
Germany is synonymous with two things: soccer and beer. And when it comes to beer, the Germans have so many great brands, having gone as far as developing the German Beer Purity Law from 1516.

7. Harp, Ireland
Harp Lager (Harp Irish Lager since 1997) is a pale lager brand owned by Diageo. It is brewed in the Dundalk brewery in the Republic of Ireland, the Labatt's brewery in Canada and the Hyde brewery in the United Kingdom. In Australia distribution is handled by Carlton & United Breweries.
A light, blond beer from Ireland, Harp received many votes as the top blond beer. All things said, it was nice to see that Harp, a.k.a. Guinness Light, got the votes it did and is apparently out of the shadow of that other beer brewed by the world's largest brewery. Guess which brewery I'm referring to.
Double Diamond did not get nearly as many votes as our panel expected, but being the favorite of many beer drinkers worldwide, Double D remains a gem, pure and simple. It is a smooth amber beer with little aftertaste. As popular as it is, it was not the most popular dark beer on the list.

5.Corona, Mexico
Corona (labeled Corona Extra, but seldom referred to as such) is the top-selling beer in Mexico and is one of the top-selling beers worldwide. Available in over 150 countries, it is also Mexico's leading export brand. It was first brewed in 1925 by Cerveceria Modelo on the tenth anniversary of the brewery, and is a pilsner. In 1997, Corona Extra became the top-selling imported beer in the United States, surpassing Heineken.
All right, based on votes, Corona is a very popular beer, but this is mostly a reflection of our readership's geographic location. Corona was so popular that we had to include it in the list to be fair, since votes were important. And unlike many other beers that were preferred, Corona is a good beer after all. But definitely not the best Mexican beer.
Because of this, try Dos Equis or Tecate -- either one will make Corona look wimpy. Of course, not in the eyes of one reader who added, "Hands down, no bitterness and smooth... like my girlfriend's back!" in reference to Corona.
4.Stella Artois, Belgium
Stella Artois is a 5.2% ABV global lager first brewed in Leuven, Belgium in 1926 as a Christmas brew, and named Stella after the Latin for "star".[1] Colloquially known as Stella or "wifebeater", "brain damage", or "fella" in some northern English towns. It is the best selling premium lager in the UK beer market, and is promoted as an international brand by InBev. In its home market of Belgium, however, it is marketed, priced and sold as a regular lager. It is brewed in Belgium and the United Kingdom, as well as other countries including Australia.
The Belgians love many things: rich chocolate, mayonnaise and beer. While there are many great beers around, Benoit was the most blunt, choosing Duvel and adding that "nothing beats blonds." Even the Delerium Tremens that comes in a funky bottle has some substance to back the style.
But for the most part, the top votes in terms of quality went to none other than Stella Artois. That's right: Stella, Stella. Perfectly bitter, yet smooth. While we are in Belgium, it should be noted that the Belgians get credit for the best white beers. There, I said it.

3.Guinness Stout, Ireland
Guinness is a dry stout that originated in Arthur Guinness's St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland The beer is based upon the porter style that originated in London in the early 1700s. It is one of the most successful beer brands in the world, being exported world wide.
How better to introduce Guinness than to quote what one reader, Janice Comiskey, had to say: "I have to be honest, I really hate beer. But I recently went to Dublin and experienced the first beer I have ever liked: Guinness, a stout beer I'm told, with a thick head. Really delicious with a slight bitter taste, it has quite a kick! Combine this with the spirit and hospitality of Dublin's pubs and it's an evening unto itself!"

2.Newcastle, England
Newcastle Brown Ale is a brand of dark brown beer. It has been brewed in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, since April 1927 by Newcastle Breweries (now a part of Scottish and Newcastle), and has been granted Protected Geographical Indication status by the EU.
Newcastle is widely recognized as one of the finest dark beers, and it has been exclusively brewed in Newcastle since 1927. Actually, the beer tastes different in a bottle than in draft. The bottle version has a sweet aftertaste and is interestingly a perfect complement to some desserts.
1.Heineken, Netherlands
Founded 1864
Headquarters Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Key people Jean-François van Boxmeer (Chairman of the Executive Board/CEO), René Hooft Graafland (Member of the Executive Board/CFO)
Heineken Brewery (Heineken Brouwerijen) is a Dutch brewing company, founded in 1864 by Gerard Adriaan Heineken in Amsterdam. As of 2006, Heineken owns over 130 breweries in more than 65 countries and employs approximately 64,000 people. It brews and sells more than 170 international premium, regional, local and specialty beers, including Cruzcampo, Tiger, Żywiec, Starobrno, Zagorka, Birra Moretti, Ochota, Murphy’s, Star and of course Heineken.
Heineken is, if the votes were any indication, the most popular beer in the world, and amongst the most recognizable brands around. The top spot goes to Heineken, but any Heineken lover should try another Dutch offering.
Without taking anything away from this great beer, the Netherlands has another tasty beer that received less votes but deserves much praise, and that is the Grolsch brand, which comes in its signature pop-up bottle. Other Dutch beers that got a substantial amount of votes were Amstel and Amstel Light.

Poor list IMO, this might as well be a list of random beers. You only have one Belgian on here and its hardly a true Belgian (Stella). You need to try those out before you make any more beer lists. Just some helpful advice!
Only one Canadian beer? What a paltry excuse for a list. Brewing is the single oldest industry in Canada, and we kinda know what we're doing.
actually i agree with almost all of these... only ones i dont agree with are samuel adams and corona... basically, if i wanted water... id ask for water. although i personally like amstel more then heineken the list is good. people have to remember the list includes ones from all countries so stop complaining theres only one belgian or only one canadian... im a dutch canadian and dont personally know of any widely known canadian or dutch beers that would make the list... you cant really expect local brewries to make such a list.
heineken at number one, only one belgian beer,.... THIS IS BLASPHEMY. Okay, one belgian beer, I can live with that, but heineken at one? You must be joking! Heineken is the combination of pis and water. If you want a decent list, have a look at this: http://www.ratebeer.com/Ratings/Ratings-Top50.asp
PS: look which beer is at number one.
I don't agree with the list as a whole (Corona?)but Newcastle, Guinness, and Sam Adams are all great beers.
Heineken shouldn't even be on the list!!
The rest is ok
