Lewis Carl Hamilton (born January 7, 1985 in Stevenage , Hertfordshire, England) is a British Formula One racing driver. As of the 2007 Formula One season he drives for the McLaren team. He made his F1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix on 18th March, 2007 and finished 3rd.
Lewis's climb to Formula 1 was fairy-tale like. From a modest family in England, with a white mother and a black father, Lewis began racing go-karts at age 10. The following year he won the McLaren Mercedes Champions of the Future series and, at 11, he met Ron Dennis, the owner and director of the McLaren Formula 1 team and told him he wanted to race in F1. Two years later McLaren signed Lewis to its young drivers program and supported his career through karting and car racing, signing him as a full-time F1 driver for the 2007 season.
